NEWS AROUND TOWN
JANUARY 7 - Too many discrepancies in two years worth of treasurers reports. Thats according to a state police
search warrant served Monday, which focuses on two Washington Township
supervisors. People like Dennis Watkins of Pine Grove were surprised to
hear about the investigation. "In this area that much money is kind of
hard to believe that someone would have that and they could get access
to," said Watkins. State Police are checking why township treasurer and
secretary Walter Stump's records could be off thousands of dollars. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34735661/ns/local_news-wilkesbarre_pa/

OCTOBER 25: The Pinegrove Historical Society and the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation
Association will sponsor the Sweet Arrow Lake Home Tour & Fall Fest
beginning at 11 a.m. at the Sweet Arrow Lake County Park
Clubhouse, 108 Clubhouse Road. According to a release from Denise
Donmoyer, conservation association president, the event will include
the history of Sweet Arrow Lake and a tour orientation. There will be
rare footage of the Depression-era speedboat races that took place at
the lake plus other lake scenes from that period, she said. Displays,
including a state and national arrowhead collection, butterfly
collection, handmade quilts and the society's roving store will be
available throughout the day. Home tours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and
include several quaint lakefront homes. People will be able to walk,
drive or ride the 13-passenger pontoon Water Taxi to the homes on the
south side of the lake. Built in the 1920s as summer cottages, the
homes harken a time gone by, Donmoyer said. Converted for year-round
use, the homes also include modern and interesting touches added by
their present owners. Food will be available from vendors on the
clubhouse grounds. Advance tickets are available at Pearl's Store, 9
